I'd recommend it for someone who is curious to learn about blockchain; but it's too high level for anyone wanting to actually *use* a blockchain or have an intelligible technical conversation about it. There's a *lot* of repeated content throughout the book, and precious little in the way of detail. The book certainly doesn't shy away from the blockchain buzzwords concomitant with much of the literature on this hot new area, and frequently uses them without even attempting to explain or define them.The book is plagued by numerous minor editorial issues, some probably unique to the Kindle edition, others shared by the physical copy. The errors are easy enough to overlook and, for the most part, do not affect the comprehensibility of the content (though there are some inaccuracies in the technical chapter)..

I really wanted to like this book, but once I opened the amazon package I noticed how thin the "ultimate guide" was. It is indeed informative for a novice but lacks the technical dept I was looking for. Perhaps I failed victim of the title, as I expected the "ultimate guide" to be deep and information heavy.It is informative, but not what I was looking for.

This book is chock full of information, albeit mostly technical---but relatively easy to understand. Cryptocurrency is here to stay, in my opinion. And this book discusses Blockchain technology that isn't a 'coin' per se, but rather the technology that enables cryptocurrency to do what it does. This talks about the future of money in an indirect way. Stay abreast, read this book.

This is an extremely clear, step-by-step explanation of Blockchain with numerous simple but relevant examples.It moves from a general perspective to a more technical one, clearly summarizing the major points made in each chapter.I’d recommend it to anyone interested in the concept of Blockchains and their potential impact.

Mark uses every day language to explain the Blockchain and its potential application other than cryptocurrency.An index would be useful.Mark does not use technical language - but some is introduced in the final section showing how a Blockchain is created, which I found very useful.It is good that Mark asks many questions making the reader think about the possible direction of the Blockchain technology.The Key Points at the end of each chapter are useful.Bill Szuch

Overall the was a good read, it went over the basic building blocks of the blockchain not technical at all minus the last chapter but still readable. After all is said a done I would recommend this book. Giving me the confidence to be in a conversation and not feel lost.

If you're a parent that is not over-bearing and want to teach your child(ren) the full extent of world history, then buy this book. It does not contain graphic images just scenerios that the 'Aztecs' would do at the height of their empire.

Full, funny, and informative.

It was good

The book has nice pictures but depicts aztecs as horrible human race. It may be true that human sacrifices took place but I was looking for more substance. e.i. why the most beautiful civilization of modern times was built in Tenochtitlán? The society of 1515 among Mechicas was very advanced to be based on human sacrifices. Great book for those who like hating Aztecs based on one sided assumptions

My 3rd grade son brought this home from the library and we had a good time reading it together. I found it to be a creative way to get kids interested in the history you usually don't hear much about. When I was in 5th grade my family actually visited Tenochtitlan so I knew the Aztecs had used human sacrifices. I was always left with the impression that the Aztecs were blood thirstly and ruthless people. This book helped me understand that they weren't sacrificing humans out of cruelty, but because they were honoring their gods. Yeah - it was gory and kind of scary, but so were human sacrifices. This book also opened the door for a lot of great dialogue with my son and he was interested enough to want to read some of the others in the series. For those who feel the illustrations are racest, please take a look at a few other books in this series. All of the characters, from Lewis & Clark to Roman gladiators are drawn the same way - big noses, goofy faces, etc.

Humorous treatment of a ghastly subject...this is our first encounter with the You Wouldn't Want To... Series. You Wouldn't Want to be an Aztec Sacrifice: Gruesome Things You'd Rather Not Know is an over the top cartoonish, yet factual and upfront look at the history of Aztec sacrifice told as if YOU were there...the one being sacrificed to the Gods! This wonderful book has an introduction that gives some basic background on the Rise of the Aztec civilization, including an inset map showing the location (handy for young readers) and then a progression of chapters starting with how you would have lived (being an Aztec noble), paying tribute, being captured in a "flower battle" (nothing to do with actual flowers, heh), the long walk through the desert to the Aztec capital, how sacrifices were chosen, and goes into exactly what happens as the day of sacrifice approaches. This is a ghastly subject that is given a humorous spin, yet still manages to tell the whole story, loaded with interesting facts and tidbits about life in Mesoamerica! Each two page spread features a main narrative in addition to a set of "photo" illustrations along the bottom or side with additional information and in the top right hand corner, each has a "handy hint" to help you along the way...these hints include advice like "make an offering to the city's guardian god - he might protect you from the Aztecs" (offered on the page where the Aztecs are coming for the tribute payments or "Always keep plenty of obsidian (volcanic glass) for weapon blades. If danger threatens you won't have time to climb the volcano to get more!"Overall, I love the format and humor used to deal with a subject that might otherwise be hard to effectively teach to kids without it becoming really depressing and/or for those subjects that never seem PC, but still really, really need to be taught. I give it five stars and recommend it as part of a larger reading set on the Aztec, after your child(ren) reads some other books on the culture and history of these Mesoamericans!! Excellent text, lots of humor, and the illustrations really bring the message home and include their own humor...they really make the story!

Another funny yet useful book that teaches children about history that is part of the "You wouldn't want to be" series. The illustrations are comical but hardly accurate. I don't believe the illustrators intent was historical accuracy but rather to capture the funny bone and imagination of the young student. The big noses may be offensive to some racial sensitive types but if you go beyond that the book is quite good. The illustrations remind me of those that can be found in Mad which was a favorite of mine as a child. This particular book has many outstanding illustrations to compliment the written details of Aztec life. The gruesome topic of human sacrifice is dealt with with humor. This book is a good introduction to Aztec life but you wouldn't want to be a Aztec sacrifice unless you don't mind going through some rather dreadful scenes. In the end your spirit may become a butterfly and everyone will admire your beauty. A good learning tool for teachers and students alike, this book is recommended for K-6 and community libraries.

This book couldn't possibly be more racist. They portray Native American people as clowns and savages. The Aztecs' religious beliefs and rituals were extreme by today's standard generic "christian" beliefs, but they remain a people that deserve as much respect as your white, genocidal ancestors who killed millions in the name of their Christ.Spreading disinformation, bigotry, and teaching children of Mexican heritage to be ashamed of their ancestry is downright evil. They are teaching this racist garbage to children. They are spreading hatred and divisiveness among children. Have you no conscience? What kind of people are you?

What a great book! It completely submerses you the quirky mythology and folklore of Japan's Yokai. The information covers a wide variety of yokai from all areas in Japan, as well as gives people unfamiliar with the geography a great reference to consult with each entry. Written with a focus on entertainment and fun over academic presentation the information is lighthearted(but doesn't shy away from some cool gory details), engaging, and fluid. This book is the epitome of a page turner. If you don't find yourself loving this book more and more with each page I'd be very surprised. The great illustrations are an added bonus. If you're on the fence about buying this book, buy it!

I bought all three of the books in this series as an introduction to Yokai and Yurei. These books are smaller than I anticipated, but they are nicely done. I really enjoy the illustrations. The paper weight and print quality are both very nice and give it a quality feel. Some of the information is a bit silly (purposefully), but I think they serve well as a light and fun introduction. It seems that this one has the most full page illustrations of the 3 books. There is an illustration for each entry. I love the formatting with the general stats on the first page, the adjacent page being the full color illustration, and then followed by 2 pages of information and photos (may include a couple relevant idioms or pop culture references, etc.).

Most Americans and Europeans know the classical western monsters, but if you want to explore those of other parts of the world, this is a great primer. it's not at all an academic tome; rather, it's simple, visual, fun, and, often humorous. It's not in-dept, but a very good introduction for both adults and children (those who are ok with scary monsters).I like to write fantasy and this adds another dimension to my possibilities of characters.I'd give this five stars except for the fact that it doesn't contain information on some of the more common (and well-known) monsters that I was interested in. Not a big deal, just mentioning that that was my one disappointment.

My niece loves this book - she got into Yokai Watch, so I bought her this guide (she is 8 but reads at a 12 year old level), she loves it but said some of the Yokai freak her out. Wouldn't put it down for days. Good book.

I really love this book!, I love how they have included information and how to run away from them or what to do when around these monsters or spirits. Also the art is really amazing in this book too as well and gives off a sense of what these creatures look like and how scary they are. 🙂

I am a seminary student working on an M.Div.. My undergrad, however, is in Accounting, and I do not have a complete background on all of the terms and concepts I am now encountering in my studies. Gonzalez's book, Essential Theological Terms, is proving to be a fantastic companion to leave on my desk. Definitions appear to be just the right length - long enough to cover the subject and explain the definition, but still short enough where only a quick reference is required to gain an understanding, or refresh my memory, about a concepts covered previously in a textbook.I can tell this is going to be one of my go-to reference books going forward.

A handy book, a good resource. Gonzalez is a very well-respected scholar, and really knows what he's talking about, and expresses even fairly technical things in an accessible, yet accurate, way.In the Kindle edition, it would have been very useful to have had a searchable Table of Contents - or failing that, alphabet tabs - for browsing. That's the only reason I didn't give it five stars.

A wonderful set of short articles in a handy form! It loses a star with me, because the Kindle edition is very poorly linked. For example, when I click "Presbterianism" I get "premillenial" instead. Many, many terms are linked to somewhere in the vicinity of the article for the term sought, but not on it.

Great content, not formatted for the kindle except for the index which only gets you close, on my paper white the letters are uneven and inconsistent, it looks like a poorly scanned document. I can't change the fonts.

Very useful and relevant quick-reference guide type of book. Ideal for theological school and seminary students as well as for general readers interested in theology and religious studies.

Gonzalez simple and concise definitions in this book have been incredible helpful over the years. It seems like an odd purchase at the time. However, it has paid for itself many times over.

Gonzalez writes well anyway, but this is the best book of theological definitions that I have ever read. He uses appropriate illustrations. I recommend this for any seminary student or theologian who wants an excellent and useful reference book of theological terms.

Mr. Gonzalez book on Essential Theological Terms is a wonderful resource for definitions and meanings of theological terms. He wrote it as he explains, to fill a gap in understanding of terms used by theologians. It definitely fulfills his purpose and is a great 'go-to' book for people who want a clearer understanding of the language used by religious writers.

Unfortunately, I didn't read the first review. I should have saved my money. I learned more from the Branson website than I did from this book. Empty pages abound and most pages are only filled with about a paragraph. There are no details about specific things to do at Silver Dollar City or anywhere else. I read it in about twenty minutes. Definitely save your money and visit the Branson tourism website instead. Much more thorough information can be found there.

Terrible book. Period. It is basically someone's thought blog and I can't believe it was actually published. A lot of blank pages and useless quotes. One section in particular lists 3 best places to eat. It only listed 2 restaurants and one of them was Cici's pizza. Are you kidding me? A crappy chain pizza buffet is the best place to eat in Branson? She didn't even fact check the price. She said she believed it was about $8. This book is a joke! Can't have too many exclamation points! The book is filled with them.

Do not buy this book. The information is trite. There are 60 pages and the biggest part of the pages is white space. There is so little information given that I really feel ripped off to have spent $11.97.
