Bought this for my very artistic 13 yo daughter. She's forever asking, "What should I draw?" I crossed my fingers when I ordered this, as we've tried many other books to inspire her that didn't. When I gave it to her, I was expecting a lukewarm response. However, as she thumbed through the book, she started giggling and smiling and couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I even got a spontaneous hug. She ran to the door when her dad got home to show him the book. And I think that the 642 options may just keep her inspired for a few weeks! ;) Any book that can charm a 13 yo girl is a keeper in my book!

Either the description has changed, or I didn't read it closely enough. I think I got this as a lightening deal, or an "add on", so maybe I didn't even read the description. That's on me... but also seems like it could be common (hence the three stars.) I was looking for more of a guide on how to draw those 648 small things, and thought they'd be cute additions to my doodling.IF you are looking for a list of tiny things to draw, with a space in which to draw them... ...then this book would be perfect for you. It is small enough to pop into your purse, or maybe even your inner coat pocket.I donated this to a local school, hoping they'll get use out of it.

My daughter saw this in a store and thought it was pretty neat. I found it on Amazon and purchased this as a stocking stuffer. It is a small book and the pages inside give ideas and space to draw things on a very small scale. I thought this would be good practice for my daughter as she gets stuck sometimes in "her style" without branching out and she can struggle with proportions. She hasn't used it yet but as soon as she gets some down time I'm sure she will. This is a pretty thick book and each page has space for drawing 3 to 4 items.

I am mildly disappointed with this book. Neat ideas but the book is less than half the size of the original, and it is the same price. In my mind $10 for a blank book is already a stretch anyway, but a tiny book like this? I am not keen on the tiny size, it is awkward for bigger hands, I understand that it is about tiny things, and it is quirky and cute but that does not necessarily translate into practical and enjoyable.

This is a really fun little book. It fits in my purse so I always travel with it. Great at bars or parties when the mood lulls, or while riding public transportation. I have the larger version and I was very excited when I heard it was coming out in this pocket edition.

I used to draw when I was younger and have been wanting to get back into it. This is a great little book that tells you what to draw and gives you space to draw it. It's small and would easily fit into a purse. It has some really creative prompts. I really love it!

Love this book! So many crazy things to draw. Some things you can draw literally and they turn out pretty funny. Pocket sized and great for a trip. I was looking for something to entertain myself while recovering from an injury and this little book provided so much fun. Every little picture you can take to whatever level you want whether its a sketch or a full on art project. Compared to other books like this, this one leaves a lot up for interpretation so i really enjoyed that.

I love Gemma and Evan, I love their story and their commitment to each other!! I will say that Gemma did annoy me a bit in this book, he lack of concern for her unborn child and get mood swings have me a bit of whiplash. She seemed a bit whiny in this book, and so dependent on Ginevra. I thought her character would have grown up a bit more, throughout the book, but the only character development I notice was towards the end of the book.There was some other nice surprised along the way, but you sort of knew where all of this was headed when it seemed that Ginevra was holding back info.I can't wait to read the next book!!!

I knew before this book was even released that I would love and hate this book in different measures. How to describe this installment in the series is beyond me. I truly love when an author can take you to love and hating a book within a matter of moments. That's what Elisa does in Brokenhearted. Gemma's distraught over Even's demise is one thing ,but no one even considers the remote possibility that there is more to it. OMG, is all I have to say. This book is not for the faint of heart. Gemma's hellish encounters are what nightmares are made of. My love for this series is beyond measure.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone. I am so emotionally touched by Gemma and Evan's love story. While this is my least favorite book in the series, it was still so worth reading. I can't wait for more of their story! Thanks so much for the wonderful world you've created Elisa S. Amore! Few series and very few authors capture and keep my attention the way you have. You are trustworthy great writer. More than that, you are an amazing creator of a world worth escaping to.

absolutely amazing read and seriesto love and be loved as deeply as Gemma and Even do each other is something we can only wish upon a star for and hope we find it in one of our 100 life times ..heart wrenching begin of this book but all the tears i shed are so worth it as my heart came to life again half way throughi'm on pinns and needles waiting for the 4th book. Gemma and Evans story never ends. i still catch my self thinking about them as if they are real people that i know and my heart just goes out to them,.love will defeat all evil, i hope

The first half of this book Gemma is lost and broken, been unable to accept her loss and move on, so Ginevra and Simon must do everything in order to protect her from death. While reading you discover a lot of secrets and find more about Gemma and other important characters, there's also a very interesting explanation and description about hell and it's monsters, the eternal war between good and evil.Can love defeat death??? Will Gemma's love for Evan be enough to defeat the ruler of hell?. You must definitely read this if you enjoyed the first two books.

I just finished Brokenhearted and would recommend it to everyone. This book answered so many questions and let you know there is still so much more to come. I absolutely could not stop reading once I started. I would love for everyone to have the love and commitment Gemma and Evan have and as much as I am so excited for the next book to be released I know that Evan and Gemmas love will see them through. Thanks Elisa S. Amore for sharing your wonderful stories with us..You are as amazing as your stories! ❤

I really wanted to like this book, the story sounds great, but it this book was underwhelming. Too much detail on characters and evil things, everything in the underworld wants to kill you, why do we need to know so much.Will I get the next book and read on, yes because I still want to find out what happens, it is a book that I have no problem putting down or letting it sit for a week whole I'm busy with family or work and I know when I pick it up, I will remember the key points of the book (there isn't much).

Wow. I waited months for Brokenhearted and i was not disappointed in the slightest! Usually I can guess what will happen in most books I read. But this book along with Unfaithful took major twists that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! I gasped, cried and was shocked. Beautifully written. I suggest this book series to all my reader friends. Will be buying the paperback asap (nothing quite like holding the book in your hands while reading). Now I will be impatiently waiting for book 4!

The print version of NOS4A2 contains an "About the type" section which, in true Joe Hill fashion, contains a secret 'epilogue' of sorts (it makes sense when you read it).The Kindle version omits this section entirely, presumably because the Kindle has no set type. The epilogue is pretty brief (about one and a half pages in hardcover) but at the same time it is a considerably important part of the story. The publisher has since edited the Kindle edition to include an excerpt for Hill's next book so there is really no reason for them to have not fixed this yet.NOS4A2 is an otherwise fantastic novel from Hill but Kindle readers should be advised that they are getting an incomplete version of the product.

As I long-time reader and collector of vampire tales, I had no trouble reading the title of this novel as Nosferatu, the dastardly vampire of black and white, silent film fame. My interest in vampires started to wane when romance writers usurped the trope and made it insipid, but, as always, hope springs eternal in the collector's heart that something new and enthralling will come along.It would be unfair to compare Joe Hill to the storytellers who captured imaginations when he was just a boy even when he writes a line or two in direct homage. He has his own voice and his own tales to tell. In NOS4A2, we find out that he isn't the least bit shy about taking a tried and true trop and making it his own.Prepare to have your disbelief suspended and your heart strings pulled so that you are reading through tears that may or may not slip down your cheeks. Character development is key. Yes, there are good guys and bad guys but blurring the lines between the two are the characters whose heart and soul and fallibility make you want to know them better. There are no minor, or insignificant characters here. And, one of the best characters is not even human… maybe it is as real as an old wooden structure can be, or maybe it is an ethereal creation of thought and need.This is the first novel of Joe Hill's that I've read. Color me impressed! His use of language is both harsh and beautiful, solid prose and thoughtful poetry. He has painted images of both brilliance and insanity with bold strokes. There is nothing I love more than a great story. When that tale is told by manipulating language to evoke form and substance, it is a glorious thing to read.Be sure you read The Acknowledgements… There is a nice list and a naughty list… seriously, this book isn't over till it's over.

There's something so satisfying about finishing a long book, and NOS4A2 is no exception. At just over 700 pages, NOS4A2 drops you into a dark and scary world, where certain objects have powers that tie into the soul, and children disappear forever into a bright and terrifyingly cheerful place called Christmasland...While reading, I kept thinking that this book reminded me of something and then it hit me, all at once - Stephen King's IT. Like the children of IT, we follow the heroine, Vic, from a young age. We see her first interaction with Charlie Manx and how she is barely able to escape him, but hurts him in the process. We follow her to adulthood and see how the experience shaped and hardened her, and how she struggles to prepare herself for the second dark showdown that she knows, deep down, she might not survive.I think Joe Hill registered the similarity, too, because it seemed like some Easter Eggs were tossed in there for the fans. As a child, for example, Vic's bike has magical powers, and she chooses it over a Schwinn (the bike that Bill road in IT). Later on, when she has her magical motorcycle, she says HI-YO, SILVER, which was Stuttering Bill's rallying cry, whenever he road his own somewhat magical bike. I don't think this is a coincidence; I choose to believe that this book was Joe Hill paying homage to his dad's legacy.That isn't to say that this book doesn't stand on its own. Between Christmasland, the Gasmask Man, The House of Sleep, and Charlie Manx, I didn't sleep all that well last night. In fact, I was pretty freaked out. Sometimes horror novels are too over-the-top ridiculous, but this book does a really good job of tapping into those subconscious fears that we all have (just like IT - sorry). It's also creative and original in a way that a lot of horror novels aren't - no werewolves or monsters in here, just a very creepy man and his very creepy henchman, and an army of terrifying little children.Also, I loved the heroine, and if there was anything I took issue with, it was the fact that Joe Hill pulled a George R.R. Martin with her and basically tortured her every chance he got. So many bad things happened to Vic in this book, and I was hoping that her ending would be much happier than it was (ditto Maggie). There's just something about a tattooed artist with a magical motorcycle, y'know?If you enjoy horror, and especially if you enjoyed IT, you should read NOS4A2. The graphic novel is pretty good, too. I received an ARC of it from Netgalley, and that was actually what got me interested in reading the book. The artist really does a great job bringing the book to life.3.5 out of 5 stars

The thing I appreciate most about Joe Hill is his ability to take a seemingly simple (even short story-esque) premise and transform it into an epic. He did it with a dead man's suit in Heart-Shaped Box and is at it again with NOS4A2 with a 1938 Rolls Royce Wraith, an old man, and a girl, young woman, mother. The other impressive thing about this book is how few characters are actually introduced despite the books length. Hill has a true gift for description and is a flat out yarn spinner like his famous father. I loved the metaphor of the inscape and how some people seem to be able to not only live in their heads but to bring others along for the ride as well. It's a fitting metaphor for what great writers do for their readers - and Joe Hill tours us through his inscape in fine style.

This book offers an engaging perspective on how to achieve success in the government contracting market. As a reader of many other general books on corporate strategy, organizational structures, and management, I enjoyed seeing those ideas applied specifically to the unique aspects of competing for government contracts. Kriegman has a wealth of experiences in what worked and didn't work, and nearly distills those into specific guidelines for making seeking success.The book covers business development and proposal strategy very effectively, and the sections on strategy are also well done. The "rules" format is memorable and gives a structure to might otherwise be disjointed bits of advices that don't fit into an overarching structure. However, the part that resonated with me the most was the importance of focusing on making the customer successful as the key to actually being good, and it is this theme that ties much of the book together. Overall, it's a quick and light read, and I've already gone back to several of the rules more than once.I'll come back and update this review once we get to half a billion.

If I could recommend only one book to any small business looking to “crack the code” on how to systematically and significantly grow their Federal business, that book would be Kriegman’s “Zero To A Billion” or Z2B. Not only does the book lay out 61 Rules (sounds like a lot but each one is simple and necessary – ignore at your own peril!) for systematic, sustained growth, but, using examples from his personal experience, the author reveals hidden secrets to success. All the advice comes from a perspective of honesty and business integrity – an essential ingredient in doing business with the US Government. The advice and admonitions are and cogent, compelling and instructive, pulling real-life examples from his own personal experiences. This book should be mandatory reading for anyone and everyone who’s serious about launching or sky-rocketing their US Government Business today!

In my experience as a professional I have encountered two types of communicators: those who derive their value from finding a complicated way to say something simple, and those who provide real value to their audiences by uncovering simple ways to communicate concepts that are quite complex. Mr. Kriegman falls into the latter category. Through a sharp, masterful synthesis of strategic overview, tactical extensions, and mythological (i.e., narrative) reinforcement, "Zero to a Billion" provides a clear, concise blueprint for building a winning govcon business. What is stated in "Zero to a Billion" is the essential, and it is up to the reader to ingest the formula and appropriate to specific conditions; the genius of this text lies in its restraint.

I've worked on government contracts as a Software Engineer and Architect for two decades. This book put a new perspective on virtually every government contract I've worked on. Straightforward advice combined with hard-hitting examples really drive home the core principles needed for success. I read the book three times and marked up virtually every page as you can see in the uploaded photo. An amazing read.

This book does have some great tidbits of information for an established business, though the title "Zero To A Billion" is a bit deceptive for the simple reason that the author's experience is entirely with working in established businesses. He's moved them from $25M in revenue to $450M or more, but, from what I can tell in the writing, he's never started at "Zero" as the title would suggest. He wasn't a founder or co-founder of a contracting company, but he does have a wealth of organizational knowledge. This is a good companion book if you are just starting out, but I wouldn't rely on it entirely.If you are a newly established business a couple years into the game, there are some great tips on everything from organizational management to business development. The only downside in addition to what I just described is that so much of it is based on projects from the 1980's and not a whole lot is very modern.Other than that, there was enough to keep me reading it, so I did like it.

This book is short...192 pages. But...they are written as "61 rules" and very easy to read and understand. More importantly, the "rules" are things that, from my 30+ years in business, are right on the mark, logically presented, and I only wish that I had known them as a younger person. The book should be mandatory reading at the MBA level and for anyone who has a modicum of business experience. Even if you are content with the business that you currently have, David Kriegman's advice will be invaluable as it illustrates his "rules" with examples from his mistakes and successes. Do yourself a favor and read this as soon as possible.....or you can be sure that your competitors will be doing it.

I read the book and then I went back and bought 25 for my sales force and peers. We will have a book circle about this. David is a recognized super-successful business development (or salesperson for us manufacturers) and executive, and I have met a few execs like David. BUT I haven't met any executives or senior leaders willing to share his insights regarding his own and his observed successes and failures. Two quick examples are: 1) write the executive summary first before you hand the proposal to the engineers and SME. If the proposal team doesn't understand your vision early then the engineering and solutions will be created and drafted incorrectly. 2) do the unexpected when the market offerings or RFPs look the same to the customer. David's team delivered a respected CIO as a PM to a prospect who was joyous with the hiring even though the CIO didn't have direct functional expertise. David's team delivered a leader rather than a SME which was a great differentiator. I keep this book on my desk to share the insights with the sales, business developers and proposal developers. I really like the book...love the whimsical appliqué patterns. However, terrible packaging by Amazon caused damage to the book. It was shipped unprotected in a box along with a 7 pound bag of walnut shells. The bag of walnut shells being thrown around during shipping not only caused damage to the books back cover and several pages, but broke open and filled all of the pages with tiny, ground up walnut shells. Not happy with Amazon!

Beautiful book on wool appliqué. Be aware that many of the flowers are in other Kim Schaefer books, but now are in wool with different settings. If this is your first wool quilt, I highly recommend book. Bugs and animals are new. Simple projects that will inspire you to begin your journey with wool.

I LOVE Christine's work. It is amazing! I was hoping that this book would provide really detailed close up and 360 degree photographs of the projects and/or very detailed tips on how you can achieve the same effect. However there are simply not enough annotated photos or details to show you how to get the same result.For example, on the Facehugger recipe, to make the body component, it says "Sculpt overall shape, using fingers to create indentations and a butter knife or sculpting tool to create score marks". Where is the detail??!? I was expecting instructions more like (I'm making up numbers here, btw) "the body should be a rounded teardrop shape 8 inches long and 5 inches wide at the widest part, and 1 inch thick. Use your fingers to make smooth 1-inch indentations radiating out from the center (as opposed to simply striping the indentations horizontally down the body)".Same thing with every other project. It's "How to draw an owl: Draw the owl". There's a fantastic medusa cake and the instructions for how to make the snakes are "use green modeling chocolate to create serpent heads for each archway. Once you have the general shape, stick a toothpick partway into the end of each serpent's neck. Sculpt the eyes and then use the end of another toothpick to create the nose, mouth, and scored scales." What? You literally just said to make the snake, make the snake. It's not COMPLETELY useless as it does have tips like adding the toothpick supports, but for the finer artistic points, you're on your own.For this difficulty level of project, I think a detailed video would be a better medium to teach with so you see everything she does. I haven't seen her recent TV show, maybe that is better. But either way, I was quite disappointed in this book and would not recommend it if you have your heart set on DIYing these and you are not an experienced artistic baker to start with. If you just want some photos, then I guess it's fine.

How can you not love a "cookbook" that sports this quote from the author: "If you're looking to tie down a man but are too lazy to feign a pregnancy, this [chocolate cake] is an easy and delicious alternative." And her terrifyingly scrumptious-looking "Scream Berries" will have you craving demented strawberries the minute you excitedly devour the book. What are you waiting for -- buy it this minute or live a life of regret and pictorial starvation!

When the book arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by just how BIG the book itself is! Of course it is beautifully done with wonderful images & detailed instruction, but it also has actually useful advise. The day I received the book, I couldn't resist but make the superly clever banana bread loaves! Although I definitely didn't spend as much time on the details, they still turned out super fun & WOW did they taste freaking fantastic. Honestly the best (& EASIEST) banana bread recipe I've ever made. So moist and delicious.. Im actually baking a standard loaf with her recipe as we speak, because it was THAT delicious & may just be my new standard!An awesome aspect to Christine's recipes is that they are SO SIMPLE! No bogus/bizarre ingredients like oh so many other cookbooks. Have been a fan since I saw one of her first Reddit posts of her parents house spooked out with Jack Skelington for Halloween. Originally having high expectations for the book, a standing ovation is in order for Christine on this one. As an artist myself, she continues to impress and excite (lol) with her unique and clever creations. Wish her a wonderful future & hope to see her go far as she oh so clearly deserves!

This is one of the funniest books I've picked up and that includes all genres. Christine McConnell is a phenomenal artist and absolutely fearless in her use of mediums: social history, photography, styling, sewing, sculpting, painting and baking which are all showcased to advantage here. I found myself like a child with their favorite picture book constantly pouring over the pages and soaking in every detail and that is just for the photos alone.The recipes are fantastically basic, which shows that a simple base can create an otherworldly experience and I found it made her creations less intimidating and that it isn't exotic ingredients that make the masterpiece but your imagination that determine the outcome. I also appreciate her advice, she did a tremendous amount of trouble shooting thru her own trial and error to help the reader utilize what works structurally so that all of her creations are basically 99% edible as opposed to most baking books which rely on a lot of plastic/wood/etc. inedible parts to create a bold cake/desert - this is where her artistic background really brings her forward as a structural engineer which is not especially taught in a professional baking course.And her images! Oh my! The clothes, which she makes herself within a couple of days for around $50 bucks or less shows a level of ingenuity and class that puts Vogue to shame. She is an extraordinary stylist with the clothes, the hair and her settings and backdrops - so much work clearly goes into to everything she does to a level of perfection that takes my breath away, particularly when you realize these are all selfies. She is the whole show and quite frankly with an imagination like hers I wonder when she sleeps?Love, love, love this book!

The DVD's which I had replaced already once, become pixelated and make it harder to make out the details in motion of the language. The publisher seems to have no quality control and relies heavily on there being a class, as the book is written with BS things like "Answers will be given in class." Instead of allowing individuals to move at their own pace easily.I've attached a picture of an instance of the pixelation that occurs while watching the DVD, as well as the main menu tends to just be gray 80% of the time.

I only received 1 dvd with the book. The second was not in it. I am returning and I'm not happy. The description should have explicitly stated that the 2nd dvd was not included. Waste of time and money.

I teach ASL (American Sign Language), and have for many years. This series matches my teaching style, and is excellent for total immersion. As a Deaf person, I had used many of the strategies listed in the book before it came out, and Hearing instructors sometimes did not agree with me. When this series came out, I felt validated and vindicated. Excellent resource. Buy it!

A great book for learning simple signs, a little bit about Deaf culture and signer's perspective. However, the signers use some California regional signs, which is confusing if you aren't learning in California. The exercises also reference signers by name and ask questions about what each one says. The problem here is that not each mini dialogue begins with the signer fingerspelling his or her name, and there isn't an index of sign models, so the homework is sometimes difficult to complete just because of that fact.

Very good book, but just note it won’t do as a stand-alone—you need to use it in conjunction with a class (many of the exercises don’t have answers in the book, for example, and just say “answers given in class”).

So I ended up having to buy a whole new textbook so I could get the DVD's for the class. Overall, the situation sucked. I was trying to save money and ended up paying double in the end.

Pretty spendy book for not being in color or having that great of illustrations. The book itself is very 1998. Needs an overhaul. The disc it comes with is more helpful. The book needs an index or the disc needs a review of vocabulary section. Unless the class you are taking provides flash cards you will end up having to buy or make flash cards as an aid because the book has nothing.

Thank you so much, this is everything the description was supposed to be and it was quick and easy and though I was a bit nervous about buying a workbook due to possible missing pieces or instructions, it came with everything I needed, like the DVDs and an access code. This was an amazing quality product and exactly what I needed at an amazing price. My school wanted to charge me double for the same product, so it was definitely great. Definitely going to pass this onto my fellow classmates who may need a cheaper but great quality product for ASL.
